Description
As an NDE Advanced Lead Engineer, you will work with a diverse team of engineers and scientists to design, build, test, and deploy cutting edge nondestructive evaluation systems and methods in support of GE Aerospace business units and customers. You will apply principals of signal and image processing, computer vision, and scientific machine learning principles to solve inspection problems in the aerospace industry. you will,
- Work with business partners and customers to define nondestructive evaluation requirements and develop solutions to support GE Aerospace products and services.
- Apply experimental and analytical skills to design, build, and test nondestructive evaluation components and systems, and write software for data acquisition and image analysis, including the application of scientific machine learning principles for signal and image processing.
- Develop simulation models to design and analyze the performance of nondestructive evaluation systems.
- Design and perform experiments to optimize inspection systems and methods and conduct shop testing to characterize part and process capabilities.
- Define scope, technical approach, and action plans for projects, and work directly with business partners and customers to track progress toward project deliverables and budgets.
- Participate in shaping new ideas, generating intellectual property, and securing internal and external funding to execute them.
- Collaborate broadly inside the company to develop and implement actionable multi-year technology strategy for nondestructive evaluation.
- Provide technical coaching and contribute to the development and growth of others.
- Effectively communicate results and recommendations by preparing written reports and delivering oral presentations.
Requirements
- Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics or related field with at least 2 years of relevant experience, Master’s degree in the desired fields with at least 5 years of relevant experience, or Bachelor’s degree in the desired fields with at least 7 years of relevant experience.
- Expertise in one or more NDE techniques, including Ultrasound, Thermography, Electromagnetics, and X-ray, with demonstrated ability to quickly learn and make technical contributions to the other technique.
- Proficiency in the design, development, and testing of NDE systems and procedures
- Software development skills in languages, like C#, C++, Python, LabVIEW, or MATLAB
- Expertise in signal and image processing algorithms development, computer vision, and the principles of scientific machine learning.
- Demonstrated ability to independently perform analytical and laboratory research work.
- US Citizenship is required.
- Must be willing to work out of an office located in Niskayuna, NY.
- Must be willing to take a drug test and submit to a background investigation as part of the selection process.
