Job Summary/Basic Function:
Wheaton College seeks a qualified individual to teach one section of "Introduction to Libraries and Archives" scheduled in the Spring '26 semester:
INT 230 "Introduction to Libraries and Archives" meets Mondays from 6:00 PM 8:50 PMSpring 2026This course explores the fields of library science and archives. Topics will include the history of information, the history of US libraries and archives, organizational structures and missions, community engagement, and current challenges and opportunities in libraries and archives. The course is hands-on. A focus on social justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion in libraries and archives is encouraged.
Responsibilities of the instructor include, but are not limited to, the following:• Teaching effectively in an in-person environment that encourages student-faculty interactions. • Creating a syllabus (with assistance, if desired) to be provided to students and posted on the course's Canvas site.• Selecting and ordering textbooks and/or procuring other course materials before classes begin.• Grading assignments within appropriate time frames and posting grades on Canvas.• Holding regular office hours and being responsive to student needs.To apply, please use the Wheaton job portal. - MLS or similar is required, and undergraduate teaching experience is strongly preferred.

When determining and establishing hiring rates or recruitment ranges for a position, the College considers a number of factors including the budget for the position, the range of the grade, the external market for the position or similar positions, level and scope of responsibilities, required education, skills and relevant experience as well as internal equity. All salary offers must have the prior approval of the Office of Human Resources.
The anticipated hiring salary for this course is $5,000..
The salary for this position will be commensurate with the qualifications, education and experience of the candidate.
