Job Description
USA Volleyball is the national governing body for the sport of volleyball in the United States. We serve our members, athletes, clubs, officials, coaches, and partners by creating safe, inclusive, and innovative environments where the sport can thrive at every level.
Under the direct supervision of the Athletic Performance Coach, Beach National Team (BNT) this position will assist BNT performance staff with all aspects of strength and conditioning and performance including but not limited to: session preparation and clean up, data entry, testing and assessment, and program writing and implementation.
The Assistant Athletic Performance Coach, BNT is a regular full-time position and will work within the Sports Medicine and Performance Division of the Beach National Team Program.
Cross departmental support is a general expectation of all USAV employees. Additional hours may be required to include nights, weekends and holidays.
This position is located in Torrance, CA.
Requirements
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities include but are not necessarily limited to:
Provide group and individual strength and conditioning programs for approved Beach National Program athletes.
Implement periodic physical testing to monitor progress against performance goals.
Refer to and collaborate with appropriate USAV/USOPC staff and external providers on all areas of performance including nutrition, recovery, mental training, injury prevention, etc.
Work independently as the sole S&C provider for non-traveling athletes while staff APC is away with the traveling teams.
Monitor training sessions and assist with pre and post session clean up.
Run pre and post practice warm-up and cool down for approved BNP athletes.
Always demonstrate a high level of professionalism.
Activate emergency protocols when necessary.
Contribute to positive team culture.
Other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science or related field
Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach (CSCS) through the NSCA
Minimum two (2) years of relevant work experience
Current Health Care Provider CPR certification
Strong organizational and communication skills with attention to detail.
Must be able safely rack and un-rack weights up to 50kgs as well as lift items from the floor and overhead.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations including athletes, coaches, administrative staff, and other performance personnel in a high stress environment.
Must successfully pass a USAV background screen (prior to hire date).
Must complete SafeSport training within two weeks of hire date and keep current as a condition of continued employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Exercise Science or related field.
USA Weightlifting Certification.
Experience with Force Assessment and Analysis (ForceDecks).
Experience working with volleyball athletes.
Salary: $65,000-$72,000/Annually
