Description
DescriptionThe School of Applied Engineering and Technology at Southern Illinois University Carbondale seeks applicants for a 9-month tenure-track faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor starting August 11, 2026. We are seeking applicants with a background in Industrial Engineering or related field. The successful candidate should be able to teach several required undergraduate courses in Industrial Management, graduate courses in Quality Engineering, and provide support as a program coordinator.

Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity.
Examples of Duties
Teach undergraduate courses in Industrial Management and Applied Engineering.
Teach graduate courses in Quality Engineering and Management.
Research in areas related to Industrial Engineering.
Serving as program coordinator for the Industrial Management and Applied Engineering program (working with advisor on transfer equivalencies, program articulations, and outreach to prospective students).
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: BS in Industrial Engineering or similar field, MS in Industrial Engineering or similar field, PhD in Industrial Engineering or a related STEM field by date of hire.
Preferred Qualifications: Candidates should have teaching experience in any of the following areas: statistical process control, quality, reliability, six sigma, lean enterprise, manufacturing systems. Candidates should have an excellent publication record and demonstrate the potential to establish a funded research program, Candidates who have experience working with a diverse range of faculty, staff, and students and who can contribute to the climate of inclusivity are encouraged to identify their experiences in these areas in their cover letter.
