- Assistant Professor in Analytical/Forensic Chemistry
Description
The UNT Chemistry Department invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the area of analytical chemistry, to begin Fall 2026. Applicants should have a record of research accomplishment and compelling ideas for building an independent research program in analytical chemistry, with a strong preference for research with applications in forensic science. Candidates whose research complements or builds upon existing strengths in the department are especially encouraged to apply. The selected individual will interact with faculty, staff and students within the Department of Chemistry and in other disciplines, contributing to a strong tradition of interdisciplinary and collaborative research at UNT. Development of a nationally and internationally visible, externally-funded research program is expected. The new faculty member will also have opportunities to teach courses and direct student projects within UNT’s FEPAC-accredited Forensic Science program, which serves undergraduate Chemistry, Biology, and Biochemistry majors. The new faculty member will have access to substantial research support infrastructure in the Chemistry Department, including staffed NMR, X-ray diffraction, and high-performance computing facilities; a stockroom; and a shared instrumentation laboratory that houses a suite of equipment for chromatographic, spectroscopic, mass spectrometric, gravimetric, and microscopic analysis of samples. Contributions to undergraduate and graduate teaching (typically, one course per long semester) and departmental and university service are expected.
