The Alzheimer’s Center at Albany Med Health System is seeking a passionate and forward-thinking physician to lead our Center as Division Chief of Cognitive Neurology and Director of the Center of Excellence for Alzheimer’s Disease (CEAD). This is a unique opportunity to head one of New York State’s 10 designated CEADs, and to shape the future of dementia care in the Capital Region and beyond.
Founded with the mission to transform dementia care across upstate New York, the Center is deeply supported by the institution, community partners, and strong philanthropic backing. We’re looking for a leader who brings clinical excellence, a passion for Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, and a commitment to advancing research and education in this field.

A Program with Momentum
- The Center’s expertise is highly sought after with about 1,000 new and 2,400 follow up visits produced on an annual basis.
- The Center generates on average 2,300 referrals to community services per year, with nearly 40% focused on caregiver support and education.
- The Center offers the novel infusion treatments, Lecanemab and Donanemab, marking a major milestone in dementia care.
- The infusion treatment program relies heavily on a robust partnership with radiology, apheresis, pharmacy, lab services, and neurology—showcasing our strength in team-based implementation of breakthrough therapies.
Strategies Already in Place for Success:
- Leveraging Albany Med Neurology for scheduling, facilities, and expert staff
- Utilizing system-wide partnerships, especially with radiology and infusion services, to streamline treatment delivery.
- Research opportunities, including clinical research supported by research staff and grant writing professionals, as well basic research and lab space opportunities through the Department of Neurosciences and Experimental Therapeutics (DNET) at Albany Medical College.
- Research opportunities via the existing Brain Bank, with more than 100 donated brains of patients with dementia
- Educational and research opportunities through our 8 residents per year and more than 140 medical students per year
- Commitment to hiring and retaining top talent.
- Ongoing professional development and clinical innovation with a focus on emerging therapies
- Active collaboration with the NYS Department of Health, the Alzheimer’s Association, and local referring physicians to improve care at a regional level.
What We’re Looking For:
We seek a clinician-scientist, at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor rank, who is deeply committed to improving the lives of patients and families affected by Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. The ideal candidate will bring:
