This is a hands-on, fast-paced engineering role for an expert problem solver. You will be tasked with rapidly responding to and resolving systemic electrical issues in our wide portfolio of handheld, tablet and wearable prodcuts. Your primary mission is to understand the system behaviour, diagnose complex hardware failures, design and validate effective solutions, and ensure those fixes are implemented to maintain our high standards while funneling the design improvements to enhanace product quality and reliability.

- Design, test, and validate cost-effective hardware solutions, including component changes, PCB layout modifications, and firmware adjustments
- Develop and document product enhancements and cost-reduction modifications for the existing product portfolio.
- Manage the implementation of rolling changes into production in coordination with manufacturing and supply chain teams.
- Lead technical investigations into systemic electrical hardware issues escalated from technical support and directly from customers.
- Perform hands-on failure analysis, component-level troubleshooting, and replication of field failures in a lab environment.
- Serve as the primary engineering authority on released products, providing definitive analysis and solutions for complex hardware-related problems.
- Design-for-supportability and reliability by providing detailed, data-driven feedback from field issues directly to the next generation of product design teams.
- Analyze trends in field failures to proactively recommend design improvements and prevent recurrence in future products.
- Understand all phases of Electrical engineering design projects
- Develops and tests documentation which describes the specific electrical functionality
- Participates and provides inputs in design reviews
- Runs tests designed by more experienced engineers
- Provides recommendations and implements solutions to complex issues. Insures compliance with quality process and standards
- Makes changes to or upgrades existing electrical designs. Enhances and improves existing technologies to apply to new solutions
- Seeks out new tools to analyze and solve problems
- Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action
- Builds productive working relationships internally and externally
- Primary intra-organizational with occasional inter-organizational and external customer contacts on routine matters
- Travel requirment: This position requires up to 25% travel, both domestically and internationally, to visit customer sites for direct investigation and support.
Qualifications:
Requirements & Qualifications
1. Professional Experience
- Experience: Minimum 5+ years of proven experience in Electrical Engineering or Hardware Design.
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field.
2. Design and Testing Tools
- Proficiency in industry-standard design tools is expected:
- Schematic & Layout: Experience with Cadence Allegro, Altium Designer, or similar ECAD tools.
- Lab Equipment: Skilled in using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and logic analyzers.
- Prototyping: Proficiency in hand soldering (fine pitch components) for rapid PCBA prototyping
3. Key Skills & Competencies
- Experience working on Microcontroller and processor architecture designs. Experience with Qualcomm (QC) platforms or similar mobile SoC architectures is a plus
- Power Management: Good understanding of DC-DC converters, battery management systems (BMS), and low-power design.
4. Language Proficiency
- Good command of English (Reading/Writing/Speaking).
- Must be able to communicate technical concepts effectively and collaborate with global teams.
