My client is a newly established biotechnology firm as a wholly-owned subsidiary of the multinational conglomerate company. It serves as the dedicated hub for the Group's advanced therapeutic cancer vaccine R&D portfolio.
Job Description
As a Finance Director, your main responsibilities will include:
Financial Leadership & Governance
- Direct all financial operations, encompassing strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, and optimized liquidity management.
- Implement rigorous financial controls and governance frameworks tailored for a high-growth, development-stage biotech environment.
- Deliver high-level financial analysis and board-level reporting to guide corporate strategy.
- Ensure full compliance with Hong Kong statutory requirements, managing all audit and tax functions.
- Drive equity financing initiatives, engaging with VCs, strategic investors, and preparing for potential public market milestones.
- Engineer complex financial models, valuations, and compelling investment cases.
- Act as a key liaison in due diligence and investor negotiations alongside senior leadership.
- Maintain transparent investor communications and rigorous financial disclosure standards.
- Provide financial stewardship for BD activities, including licensing, clinical partnerships, and strategic alliances.
- Lead the financial evaluation and structuring of commercial deals to maximize value.
- Synchronize financial planning with R&D milestones and the broader corporate roadmap.
- Develop scalable financial systems and policies to support organizational expansion.
- Manage intercompany financial matters and synergy with the parent group.
- Champion long-term risk management and corporate planning initiatives.
A successful Finance Director should have:
- Academic & Professional Credentials: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; CPA, CFA, or equivalent professional designation is highly preferred.
- Leadership Track Record: 10-15 years of progressive finance experience, including substantial tenure in senior leadership roles.
- Capital Markets Expertise: Proven success in fundraising is essential, with hands-on experience in equity financing, venture capital engagement, and investor relations.
- Industry Specialization: Prior experience within Biotech, Pharma, Life Sciences, or other R&D-intensive sectors is strongly preferred.
- Strategic Modeling: Advanced proficiency in financial modeling, valuation, and capital planning specifically for development-stage companies.
- Regulatory Command: Solid understanding of Hong Kong financial reporting, tax, and regulatory frameworks; international exposure is a significant advantage.
- Operational Agility: Ability to thrive and remain effective in a lean, high-growth organizational structure with evolving priorities.
- Competitive annual salary ranging from HKD 960,000 to HKD 1,200,000.
