Health, Safety, and Environment Specialist
Location: Churchville, MD
Security Clearance: Eligible to Obtain - U.S. citizenship required
Salary: $70,000 - $90,000 Depending on Experience and Education
Travel: 10%

Position Summary
SURVICE Engineering is currently seeking a Health, Safety, and Environment Specialist to support our Applied Technology Sector. You will accelerate your career and become an integral team member within the defense community.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities of Health, Safety, and Environment Specialist
Developing and implementing safety policies, procedures, and guidelines in accordance with Federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
Ensuring the highest safety compliance standards and a healthy work setting for staff, visitors, and vendors.
Collaborating with project teams to promote safety initiatives and ensure the integration of safety practices into daily operations.
Monitoring and staying updated on safety regulations, codes, and standards.
Contributing to facility and aviation-related safety program enhancements.
On site at our Level, MD facility, support the development of shop-equipment SOPs and monitor employee training, conduct, and tool usage.
Supporting emergency preparedness and response efforts, including developing evacuation plans and procedures.
Supporting the investigation of accidents, incidents, and near-miss events to determine root causes and implementing corrective measures.
Assist the Corporate Safety Officer with safety program compliance across the company, including Respiratory Protection, Laser Safety, Confined Space, Lift Truck certification, Safe Vehicle Operation, etc.
Assess workplace hazards and risks and recommend appropriate mitigation measures.
Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential safety issues and ensure compliance with established safety protocols.
Support the investigation of incidents and accidents, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Provide periodic safety training sessions and organize impactful safety campaigns to promote awareness.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of safety strategies, plans, and procedures and adjust as needed.
Provide guidance and support to management and employees on safety-related matters.
Investigate employee complaints about safety/health/environmental practices
Minimum Qualifications of Health, Safety and Environment Specialist
High School Diploma and 3+ years of relevant experience. Candidates are not required to possess all qualifications; is you possess some of the desired qualifications, please apply.
Desired Experience
3+ years of OSHA/EHS work experience, or any combination of education, experience, and training which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below.
Working Knowledge of OSHA and other safety regulations and guidelines
Proficiency in safety auditing, inspection and identifying hazards.
Expertise in using and maintaining safety equipment like fire extinguishers, eye protection, respirators, and hazardous material protection.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and mitigate potential risks.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with employees at all levels.
Bachelor's degree in safety, occupational health and safety, industrial hygiene, or a related field preferred.
Relevant certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) certification or Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS) preferred.
Experience in aviation or drone safety preferred.
Candidate must be authorized to work in the United States and must have the ability to obtain a Secret Clearance.
