Job Summary
The Director will provide dynamic academic and administrative leadership to advance the
mission of the program and the University's commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and
university and community service. This individual will be responsible for overseeing the program
development, curriculum implementation, student recruitment and success, faculty engagement,
assessment, and partnerships that strengthen biomedical science education and research.
Job Duties
Job Responsibilities: The selected candidate will be expected to:
Provide strategic direction and leadership for the MS in Biomedical Sciences program.
Develop, implement, and evaluate curriculum to ensure academic quality and compliance
with accreditation standards.
Recruit, mentor, and evaluate personnel associated with the program.
Lead student recruitment, admissions, advising, and academic progression efforts.
Promote faculty-student research and secure external funding to support program
initiatives.
Manage program operations, including course scheduling, assessment, and reporting.
Represent the program within the University and to external partners in academia,
government, and industry.
Promote research opportunities and collaborations for students and faculty.
Establish partnerships with biomedical industries, government agencies, and research
institutions to enhance experiential learning and career pathways.
Pursue external funding to support program development, research, and student support
Maintain compliance with university, state, and accrediting body requirements.
Build partnerships with medical, graduate, and other professional schools for student
placement
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Other Characteristics
Position Requirements: The successful candidate must have demonstrated:
Experience in program development and assessment at a research-intensive or minority-
serving institution.
Evidence of success in securing research funding and building institutional partnerships.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student achievement.
Required Minimum Qualifications
An earned doctorate (Ph.D., M.D., D.V.M., Dr.P.H., or equivalent) in a biomedical
science or closely related field.
A minimum of three years of experience in graduate-level teaching, research, and
academic administration.
A record of scholarly achievement and demonstrated program or institutional leadership.
