About VESH
Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Hospital (VESH) will be the first full-service, major 24/7 veterinary emergency and specialty hospital in London — a center built from the ground up by veterinarians for veterinarians.
Our founders previously launched and operated 25 major veterinary hospitals across the US. VESH now builds on that legacy with a new vision: to create a world-class hub for clinical excellence, education, research, and innovation – first in London and then across the UK and Europe – where specialists collaborate across disciplines to shape the future of veterinary medicine.
At VESH, we are assembling a team of leaders, not just employees, united by curiosity, compassion, and the drive to raise the standards of veterinary care in the UK and beyond.
The Opportunity
The Medical Director is not a caretaker role, it’s a builder’s role. You’ll have the rare opportunity to design and lead a major new hospital from inception: influence the architecture, workflows, technology, and the professional culture that will define VESH for decades.
You’ll collaborate directly with the CEO and Hospital Director to set the hospital’s medical vision, shape its specialties, and attract top-tier clinicians from the UK, Europe, and North America.
If desired, you can maintain up to 25% clinical activity in addition to your administrative responsibilities, allowing you to keep your hands in medicine while leading from the front.
What You’ll Lead
- Shape the Standard: Design medical workflows and clinical governance models that embody the best of modern veterinary medicine.
- Build and Mentor: Recruit, develop, and inspire a team of exceptional veterinarians, nurses, and support staff.
- Drive Research and Innovation: Partner with VESH’s non-profit organization (the VESH Foundation) to conduct clinical trials, develop novel innovations, and advance how we are able to care for our veterinary patients.
- Collaborate for Excellence: Work shoulder-to-shoulder with our Hospital Director, department heads, and research leads to align medicine, operations, and client experience.
- Elevate the Profession: Offer continuing professional development (CPD; referred to as continuing education/CE in the US) to the London veterinary community and support internship and residency training programs.
- Engage the Community: Strengthen relationships with referring vets and the broader professional network across the UK and Europe.
Your Path with VESH
- 2025 – 2026: Join in an advisory role to guide hospital planning, recruitment, equipment acquisition, protocols, and systems design.
- Mid-2026: Transition to full-time as the hospital nears opening.
- Early 2027: Lead the launch of London’s first integrated veterinary emergency and specialty hospital.
Compensation & Benefits
- Equity ownership in VESH, vesting over time
- Advisory: As appropriate
- Full-time: £175,000 annually
- Comprehensive benefits: health insurance, CPD allowance, visa sponsorship, & relocation support as applicable
