Job Family Overview
Designs, develops and implements nondestructive testing (NDT) to evaluate the properties and
conformance of a material, component or system without causing damage. Records, analyzes
and reports test results. Writes testing plans and maintains test documentation in accordance
with applicable regulations and requirements.

Essential Functions
- Set up and standardize equipment, process parts, interpret and evaluate for acceptance or
rejection, and document results.
- Develop specific calibrations and tests.
- Document results in accordance with the specification.
- Identifies errors and defects in equipment.
- Use of ultrasound, radiography, or other techniques during the testing process.
- Conduct system performance checks in accordance with the applicable process standard.
- Maintain or develop procedures, policies, and techniques as necessary.
- Train subordinate personnel in the various NDT disciplines and techniques.
- Maintain documentation for training and experience hours.
Qualifications
Including proficiencies, skills, knowledge and certifications
- Required education and experience: Vocational/Technical Training Degree and 2-5 years'
experience OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/or Experience
- Other: NAS 410 Certification Level 2: State issued industrial radiographer certificate
- Ability to achieve Level I or Level 2 certification in alignment with NAS 410 standards, through
education, training, and testing, and perform the required Level 2 requirements
- Preferred education and experience: Associate's Degree
- Discipline/Major: Science Degree in NDT or equivalent training and experience
- Knowledge, skills & abilities: Technical expertise. Problem-solving skills. Time management
skills. Manual dexterity.
Physical Demands
- Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
- Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds.
- May need to stand for long periods of time.
- Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
- Must be willing to work outside normal business hours as required.
- This position is Safety-Sensitive.
