Position Description:
The School of Arts & Sciences at Merrimack College invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track, open-ended term, open rank Instructional Professor in the field of Biology within the Department of Natural Sciences. We seek an educator who will contribute to the continued growth of our innovative programs, advance interdisciplinary learning, and support the College’s mission of fostering academic excellence and community engagement.
Primary Responsibilities:

Develop and update undergraduate Biology courses

Teach a combination of Biology lectures and labs for students in the Biology program, as well as associated science programs (Health Sciences, Nursing, etc.)

Develop, teach and implement laboratory courses with a course-based research experience (CURE) component

Coordinate undergraduate introductory biology labs

Advise/mentor undergraduate students and host consistent office hours for students throughout the academic year

Attend department and faculty meetings

Other duties as assigned by the Academic Dean and/or Department Chair
Requirements
Qualifications
-
Master’s degree in biological sciences or a related field is required; Ph.D. in biological sciences preferred.

Experience teaching lectures and laboratories at the collegiate level strongly preferred.

Strong interest in undergraduate and graduate teaching, with a commitment to accessible and experiential pedagogy.

Ability to contribute to a collaborative and student-centered academic community.

Work Location
This is an on-campus position as employees are essential in order to provide a fully on-campus, residential college experience for our students and the community.
Compensation:
The expected 9-month base salary range (paid over 12 months) for the Assistant Instructional Professor position is $78,000-$90,000; for the Associate Instructional Professor is $90,000-$110,000. The actual pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as, but not limited to, candidate qualifications and prior experience, scope of responsibilities, internal equity, and market considerations.
