The University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Dentistry is seeking an innovative and experienced Open Rank Professor and Director of Digital Dentistry. This is a full-time non-tenure faculty position responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing digital education initiatives that support didactic, preclinical, and clinical education in all areas of the College of Dentistry. The Director will play a key leadership role in integrating advanced digital technologies into the curriculum and fostering a culture of innovation in dental education.

Responsibilities
Lead the design, development, and implementation of digital dental education strategies within the college.
Collaborate with department faculty to incorporate digital workflows (e.g., scanning, CAD/CAM, 3D printing, digital printing) into teaching and clinical practice.
Evaluate, recommend, inventory, and oversee the procurement of digital dental equipment.
Implement and maintain digital systems and workflows in preclinical and clinical environments.
Collaborate with IT to ensure seamless integration and support, while following regulatory guidelines.
Develop and deliver faculty training on emerging digital tools and pedagogical approaches.
Provide hands-on clinical instruction to students and mentor students and residents in digital dentistry concepts and techniques.
Collaborate with industry partners and other academic units to advance digital dentistry.
Serve on academic committees and contribute to institutional initiatives.
Qualifications
EDUCATION: DDS, DMD, or equivalent degree.
EXPERIENCE: Experience in curriculum development and teaching.
LICENSES: Must be licensed or license eligible for a dental license in the State of Tennessee.
DEPARTMENTAL PREFERENCES:
Proficiency with Itero, 3Shape, and PrimeScan intraoral scanning systems.
Experience with CEREC and other chairside CAD/CAM milling units.
Familiarity with RealGUIDE, CoDiagnostics, Simplant, and/or other planning software platforms.
Hands-on experience with 3D printing technologies (e.g., Formlabs, SprintRay).
Knowledge of digital radiography systems and integration with practice management software.
Ability to troubleshoot and maintain digital hardware including scanners, mills, and printers.
Advanced training or certification in digital dentistry.
