The Department of Pharmacy and Therapeutics at the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy is seeking to hire a Postdoctoral Associate for our Community Pharmacy Leadership and Research Fellowship Program. This Fellowship focuses on developing leaders in community pharmacy practice, public health research, and innovation. The Postdoctoral Associate will be a member of a team of researchers in the Community Leadership and Innovation in Practice Center. The CLIP Center is dedicated to advancing the way pharmacy is practiced in communities regionally and across the nation. The Fellow will conduct stakeholder-engaged, community-based research with our public health and community pharmacy partners. An emphasis will be placed on implementation science (both research and practice) and developing future pharmacy leaders in community pharmacy and public health. Core activities include (1) conducting mentored practice-based research in community pharmacy settings, (2) grant writing and manuscript submission, (3) collaborating with the Pennsylvania Pharmacists Care Network on programmatic and quality improvement initiatives, (4) provision of patient care at the Pitt Vaccination and Health Connection Hub, and (5) mentoring and teaching opportunities with pharmacy students. Applicants should possess a PharmD degree from an accredited university and PGY-1 residency. Suitable candidates are required to have demonstrated previous community-based pharmacist practice experience and the ability to work with colleagues in collaborative interactions. Prior community pharmacy and underserved care expertise is highly desired. The School of Pharmacy has a strong commitment to career development and teamwork for Postdoctoral Associates. Strong written and verbal skills in English are essential. There are opportunities to expand into new areas of research with our partners.
Minimum Qualifications
- PharmD degree required
- Eligible for pharmacist licensure, including authorization to administer injectables for pharmacists, in Pennsylvania
- Applicants must have completed public health focused PGY-1 pharmacy residency in a community-based pharmacy setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong background in community pharmacy practice and care for underserved populations
- Candidates should be highly motivated to pursue an independent career in public health, underserved care, and community pharmacy-based research
- Prior publication(s) or advanced degrees in public health
Job Duties:
- Design and execute public health/community pharmacy research projects, using both qualitative and quantitative data,
- Collect and analyze data and present at national/statewide conferences/meetings
- Prepare manuscripts for publication,
- Apply for additional external funding where applicable,
- Mentor or precept student pharmacists in practice or on research projects,
- Provide direct patient care with our public health partners, and
- Assist with any other assignments upon request.
