Description
The Massive Data Institute (MDI) and the Institute for the Study of International Migration (ISIM) seek a postdoctoral fellow to join a project that focuses on using social media data to develop indicators of forced migration. The project is co-led by Sonneborn Chairs Lisa Singh, Ph.D. Department of Computer Science and Public Policy, Katharine Donato, Ph.D., School of Foreign Service and Department of Sociology, and Ali Arab, Ph.D., Department of Mathematics & Statistics. Applicants should have a PhD in any relevant social science disciplines, computer/data science, or other related fields.
The postdoctoral fellow will be part of a cross-institute collaboration between the Massive Data Institute (MDI), and the Institute for the Study of International Migration (ISIM). The postdoctoral fellow will be housed at both MDI and ISIM.
Requirements
We seek a postdoctoral fellow with interests in addressing pressing challenges at the intersection of forced migration and big data, and/or with data analytic skills and experience using large complex data sets, including social media data. The postdoctoral fellow will collaborate with Professors Singh, Donato, and Arab in analyzing data, writing and publishing research papers, meeting with interested colleagues and students, and mentoring junior scholars.
