Position SummaryA postdoctoral fellowship is available in the Department of Kinesiology within the Indiana University School of Public Health-Bloomington under the direction of Zac Schlader. This is a grant-funded position for a minimum of 2 years and is renewable for up to 2 additional years based on performance and funding. The overall goal of this project is to understand and inform the identification of solutions that alleviate the risk of subclinical acute kidney injury and chronic kidney disease of nontraditional causes, common and growing health risks caused by occupational heat stress.

Basic Qualifications
PhD or equivalent terminal degree in exercise science, kinesiology, integrative physiology, environmental and occupational health, or related field is required. ABD will be considered for interview but must have earned terminal degree by start date. Must possess documented experience conducting human subjects research, including data collection, analysis, and interpretation. Must also demonstrate strong scientific writing skills. Preference will be given to those with expertise in one or more of the following fields: integrative physiology, thermal physiology, occupational health, and/or renal physiology. The successful candidate should be an enthusiastic scientist, a good teammate, and have demonstrated exceptional potential.

Additional Qualifications
The successful applicant will be expected to play a leadership role in the project and generate new knowledge that is congruent with the overall goal of the funded project. This includes generating peer-reviewed publications. Resources are available for travel to scientific meetings and formal training is available with regards to grant writing, and research ethics, rigor and reproducibility. There will also be opportunities to develop your own independent research interests. The successful applicant will be exposed to other studies in the laboratory, which will involve aspects of environmental, cardiovascular and exercise physiology.
