The Princeton School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University invites applications for postdoctoral research positions from individuals with a PhD degree in related disciplines with policy relevance, including, but not limited to political science, sociology, economics, anthropology, and history. Expertise in education, national security, public health, climate change, and poverty are of particular interest, but the positions are not limited to these policy areas. Domestic and international perspectives are welcome.
Individuals with a PhD degree or who expect to receive a Ph.D. by July 15, 2026, are preferred. The positions are offered for one year, with the possibility of renewal, contingent upon continued funding and satisfactory performance. In addition to carrying out independent research, the appointees will be expected to assist in the teaching of the "Introduction to Public Policy" course in the fall semester, as part of a team with a lead faculty member and other post-doctoral associates.
In addition to carrying out independent research, the appointees often collaborate with one or more faculty members. Beyond research, the appointees will be expected to assist in the teaching of the SPI 298: Introduction to Public Policy course during the fall semester, including the evaluation of written and presented work by undergraduate students and leadership of discussion sections for the class. When teaching, the appointees would hold the additional rank of Lecturer. Any teaching is contingent on sufficient course enrollment and prior approval from the Office of the Dean of the Faculty. In the spring semester and summer, in addition to their research, postdocs will contribute to the SPIA Writing Center, focusing on junior papers and senior theses, while also assisting the lead faculty member in preparing for the upcoming fall semester's SPI 298 course.
Applicants must apply online at https://www.princeton.edu/acad-positions/position/40881 and submit a cover letter, C.V., one research paper, and two reference letters. Applications will be reviewed beginning late January 2026 with the expectation of a decision in late February - March. The position will start on or about August 1, 2026.
Expected Salary Range: $72,000.00
