Principal Data Scientist w/Top Secret ClearanceAs a Principal Data Scientist, you'll own the technical vision for AI/ML initiatives that directly reduce security investigation backlogs and automate mission-critical workflows. You won't just build models, you'll architect enterprise-scale solutions, and advise leadership on the art of the possible with AI. If you've ever wanted to see your data science expertise create tangible impact at scale and build machine learning models that could help protect national security for millions of Americans, this role is for you. In this job you will:
- Provide technical leadership for data science solutions and build high-impact solutions that run in production daily, and influence a $2B+ security enterprise.
- Define technical vision and architecture for enterprise-scale data science platforms leveraging AWS services (SageMaker, Bedrock, Glue, Athena, Lambda, EventBridge).
- Design and implement serverless data pipelines capable of scaling 2-3x monthly to support evolving mission requirements.
- Establish coding standards, best practices, and engineering quality controls for ML/AI development across the program.
- Lead technical design reviews, provide expert guidance on algorithmic models, and advanced analytics approaches that drive AI/ML strategy, capabilities, and roadmaps.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and provide recommendations for prototype, pilot, and production implementations involving data ingestion, cleansing, transformation, and feature engineering at scale.
- Drive AI adoption by identifying high-impact business use cases and leading implementation from concept to production with clearly defined success metrics and ROI.
- Architect serverless data pipelines (Lambda, Glue, Step Functions, EventBridge) that can scale 2-3x monthly as mission demands grows.
- Design, develop, and deploy production ML models while implementing MLOps practices, in Git, performing A/B testing, monitoring for drift, and automated retraining pipelines.
- Evaluate and integrate generative AI capabilities alongside advanced analytics and dynamic rule sets to influence workflow automation.
- Create interpretable models and explain ability frameworks for stakeholder communication and compliance requirements.
- Mentor and develop Senior Data Scientists, providing technical guidance.
- Lead code reviews and establish quality gates for data science deliverables.
- Foster knowledge sharing through documentation, training materials, and technical brown bags.
- Collaborate with cross-program developers, business analysts, and cybersecurity engineers in an Agile framework
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related quantitative field (or equivalent experience).
- 10+ years of progressive experience in data science, AI/ML, or advanced analytics.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with AWS cloud services.
- Expert proficiency in Python and SQL with experience in production ML systems.
- Demonstrated experience designing and deploying classification, regression, and time-series models at scale.
- Strong background in data engineering, ETL pipelines, and big data technologies (Spark, distributed computing).
- Experience with GitLab or a similar version control and CI/CD pipelines for ML.
- Proven ability to communicate complex technical concepts to executive and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to meet Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 8140 / 8570 Certification requirements (CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent) within 6 months of start date.
- Master's degree or Ph.D. in a quantitative discipline.
- AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, Machine Learning Specialty, Data Analytics Specialty).
- Background in Agile methodologies and sprint-based delivery.
- Security+ or other DoD 8140-compliant certifications.
- Active Secret or Top Secret (TS Preferred)
