Description
Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VILNIUS TECH), Lithuania, invites applications for Principal Scientist to lead a research group within the newly established Competence Centre for Autonomous, Remotely Operated and Connected Systems (ComARC).
Successful candidate will be appointed to head one of the Centre’s R&D groups, broadly falling into these areas:
- Electronic and RF Systems / Embedded AI Applications
- Microsystems / Components / Advanced Materials
- Uncrewed Platform Designs for Air, Ground, and Sea Domains
S/he will manage research budget of approx. €2.5M over three years, shaping the Centre’s scientific agenda and international partnerships.
It is also possible to take a complementary Professor's or Associate Professor's position and title with teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels and PhD supervision rights; teaching activities would be compensated through additional salary supplements.
Appointments begin September 2026 for an initial three-year term (renewable), starting annual gross salary is €110,000.

Requirements
We seek senior grade researchers with an established record of innovation and leadership potential.
Candidates should hold a PhD in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or another field aligned with the thematic scope of the respective research group. They are expected to meet the university’s Senior Scientist qualification benchmarks, including:
- A strong publication record — typically ≥15 papers in WoS SCIE/SSCI-indexed journals, with at least 7 published within the past 5 years.
- Experience in supervising early-career researchers (PhD candidates, postdocs) and/or leading R&D projects and teams.
- A proven ability to attract external research funding and experience in coordinating international research consortia would be an advantage.
Applicants with equivalent research achievements may also be considered.
