Position Overview
The Regulatory Compliance Specialist will play a pivotal role in ensuring our bio-based, sustainable chemical products meet all applicable national and international regulatory requirements—while supporting our mission to reduce reliance on petroleum-based materials. This position bridges compliance expertise with environmental stewardship, guiding products from development through commercialization.
You will be responsible for preparing and maintaining regulatory documentation, navigating global chemical regulations, managing product registrations, and working closely with R&D, manufacturing, and customers to bring innovative, sustainable solutions to market. Acting as both a compliance guardian and a sustainability champion, you will help ensure our products meet rigorous safety, performance, and environmental standards worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with global chemical regulations (e.g., REACH, TSCA, WHMIS, CLP, GHS, food contact regulations, etc.) for all products
- Monitor and interpret regulatory changes, advising internal teams on potential impacts and opportunities
- Support product registrations, notifications, and compliance documentation for multiple jurisdictions
Documentation & Classification
- Prepare and maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS), product labels, technical dossiers, and certifications
- Oversee chemical classification, hazard communication, and proper labeling in accordance with regulatory frameworks
Product Stewardship & Sustainability
- Collaborate with product development teams to integrate regulatory and sustainability considerations into product design and innovation
- Evaluate raw materials for compliance, safety, and alignment with sustainability objectives
- Support initiatives that enhance product environmental profiles, including eco-certifications and circular economy compliance
Stakeholder Engagement
- Assist the primary liaison in managing communications with regulatory agencies, industry associations, and third-party testing facilities
- Provide compliance support and documentation to customers, distributors, and manufacturing partners
Training and Continuous Improvement
- Deliver internal training on regulatory compliance and sustainability requirements
- Champion best practices for regulatory excellence and environmental responsibility across the organization
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field
- Minimum 3–5 years of regulatory affairs experience in the chemical industry, preferably industrial chemicals
- Strong knowledge of global chemical regulatory frameworks (REACH, TSCA, WHMIS, CLP, GHS, BfR, FDA, etc.)
- Experience with SDS authoring and chemical classification tools
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
Valuable Qualifications
- Master’s degree in relevant scientific or regulatory discipline
- Experience in sustainability-related regulations (e.g., circular economy, product stewardship initiatives)
- Familiarity with international trade regulations affecting chemicals
