The Pulmonary, Allergy, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine Division of the DOM. The division is led by interim division chief Michael Donahoe, MD and Executive Administrator Barbara Suchonic. The division is made of up approximately 70 clinical staff and over 100 research staff who work in a variety of locations including: Bridgeside Point, Biomedical Science Tower (BST), UPMC Hospitals including Presbyterian, Shadyside, East, Jameson and Mercy. The division provides world class services across 10 inpatient services at five hospitals and over 70,000 outpatient office visits. We have a major research mission that focuses on basic, clinical, and translational research on the lung, microbiome, COVID-19, sleep medicine, and allergy and immunology.
The Research Data Analyst I position will support research initiatives for a recently funded NIH grant investigating precision medicine in critical illness including the preparation, analysis, and visualization of data, organization and data management, and supporting the principal investigator in research productivity. This entry level position is ideal for candidates who are interested in learning and growing in a research environment and requires a willingness to learn new skills. Experience with Excel and Powerpoint, and familiarity with R, Stat, SQL are helpful but not necessary.
Job Summary
Evaluates business requirements and performs basic data integration and analysis. Develops routine analytical and reporting tools utilizing integrated data. Provides technical support.
Essential Functions
Data Collection and Cleaning: Gathering and preprocessing of research datasets from observational and interventional research studies including data collection for a critical care research registry and biospecimen repository.
Statistical Support: Basic statistical analyses to support research studies and study designs initially with transition to more advanced analyses to support research efforts.
Reporting and Visualization: Build statistical reports for the research team and visualization of data for research presentations, manuscripts, and applications.
Project Management: Working with the principal investigator to track progress on research projects and in completion of regulatory requirements.
Collaboration: Working with the principal investigator, collaborators, biostatisticians, research coordinators, graduate students, and medical trainees in completion of studies and coordination of projects.
