Description
Provide research services to all William Blair employees to support their needs in obtaining and evaluating business and competitive data to achieve their business objectives. Determine most appropriate sources and assemble information on companies, industries, mergers and acquisitions, the economy, financial markets, executives and other topics per end user requests. Synthesize research findings and prepare and package information using optimal delivery methods and formats.
Responsibilities include but may not be limited to:
- Develop and maintain relationships with firm employees and develop an understanding of their domestic and international business information needs. Utilize established information gathering techniques to scope research projects and determine deliverables.
- Evaluate available information sources, including both free and fee-based databases, and select most appropriate sources based on user information needs.
- Plan and execute short-term and in-depth research projects and analysis within established deadlines. Perform multiple research projects simultaneously, communicating with requestors on progress and issues that may impede success.
- Synthesize information research and prepare and package information using optimal delivery methods and formats. Ensure that deliverables are concise, organized and consistent with Business Information quality standards.
- Prepare training materials and provide instruction on research methods and resources to firm employees.
- Contribute to knowledge initiatives, including identifying and evaluating new information resources, contribute to research content, and cross training with co-workers.
- Ensure all work activities are in compliance with applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
- Escalate issues or complex requests, as necessary.
- Additional responsibilities as requested.
This role may be hybrid or remote out of the following locations: Baltimore, Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Denver or New York City.
A reasonable estimate of the current base salary range at time of posting is below. Base salary does not include other forms of compensation or benefits. Actual base salary within the specified range is based on several factors, including but not limited to applicant's skills, prior relevant experience, specific degrees and certifications, job responsibilities, market considerations and, if applicable, the location of the position.
This role is eligible for either a discretionary annual bonus (based on company, business unit and individual performance) and/or commission-based incentives.

Salary Range
$75,000—$95,000 USD
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree required
Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science strongly preferred
At least 3 years of experience performing research required; financial services firm experience strongly preferred
Experience with database services such as LexisNexis, Factiva, S&P Market Intelligence, Pitchbook, and LSEG Workspace preferred
Strong investigative research and analytical skills
Proficiency conducting in-depth company, biographical, multi-industry, financial, market, legal, and regulatory research
Commitment to customer service
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work independently in support of team goals
