The German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) is one of Europe's largest cancer research centers. We are seeking a highly motivated scientific project coordinator who is eager to contribute to impactful international biomedical research and to help shape collaborative research initiatives across Europe.
As a central interface between researchers, administrative units, and external stakeholders, you will play a pivotal role in driving effective collaboration across partner institutions, with a strong focus on our activities within European research networks. By bringing in your expertise, you will actively contribute to building sustainable bridges in biomedical research and advancing innovative solutions that address both technical and medico-legal challenges related to data sharing in complex international research environments.
Your Tasks
- Support the strategic planning and development of future European and international research initiatives and funding proposals
- Monitor project milestones, risks, and dependencies
- Support the principal investigators in the preparation and coordination of grant applications (including scientific aims, work plans, budgets, Gantt charts, and data protection sections) as well as scientific and financial reporting
- Support projects with medico-legal tasks (e.g., create and negotiate data protection concepts according to GDPR)
- Support the organization of seminars, retreats, and site visits to or by our international partners
Your Profile
We welcome applicants with diverse academic and professional backgrounds that intersect with project management, data governance, research infrastructure, or regulatory processes.
For this position, we expect:
- A completed university degree, for example master's degree or equivalent
- Demonstrated experience in science and project management, research administration, and regulatory affairs, ideally within an academic environment
- Very good English skills, both written and spoken
- Proven project management skills; certifications such as PRINCE2, IPMA, or experience with agile methodologies are beneficial
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills in a multidisciplinary and international environment
- An independent, structured, and proactive working style with a strong motivation for continuous development
