At Ensign-Bickford Aerospace & Defense (EBAD), we’ve been innovating for nearly 200 years, delivering mission-critical technologies that protect lives and advance exploration. As we prepare to double in size over the next 3–5 years, we’re building a strong Systems Engineering department to develop and qualify new products.

We’re looking for an experienced Systems Engineer to join our growing Systems Engineering department. As part of an Integrated Product Team (IPT), you will champion disciplined systems engineering practices that improve product reliability and lifecycle performance across critical aerospace and defense programs.

The Opportunity:

EBAD’s Systems Engineering department has been growing in responsibility, size, and influence since its inception in 2023.  The Systems Engineer will be instrumental in concepting and trading system architectures for highly reliable products in the mission and safety critical end uses.

• Systems Leadership: Guides the Integrated Product Team in selecting solutions that best meet technical requirements while optimizing cost and schedule constraints.
• Customer Focus: Demonstrated ability to ensure mutual understanding between the IPT and the Customer on compliance plans and rationale, needs vs. wants, and timely assessment of scope discrepancies.
• Requirements Management: Skilled at decomposing functional requirements into clear electronic and mechanical specifications, and ensuring end-to-end technical compliance with internal and external stakeholders throughout the development lifecycle.
• Interface Management: Experienced in identifying critical interfaces and boundaries, both for customer integration and internal test equipment, and developing interface verification plans.
• Risk Management: Driven to identify, assess and mitigate technical risks through systematic root cause analysis and failure investigation to enable robust product design and continuous improvement.

Requirements

The Candidate We Are Looking For:

• BS/MS in an engineering discipline required; Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering preferred
• Minimum of 5 years of experience analyzing and developing system, sub-system, and component requirements in the aerospace, automotive, or defense industry
• Previous experience leading cross function teams through requirements management and verification activities
• Systems engineering education, certification, and affiliations desired 
• Requirements management experience required, DOORS or DOORS Next Gen preferred
