AGVISE Laboratories is seeking a Soil Scientist/Laboratory Analyst to provide technical and analytical support for the soil and plant analysis services provided at our Benon, MN laboratory. AGVISE Laboratories is an employee-owned agricultural testing laboratory and has been leading the industry in the analysis of soil, water, plant tissue, manure, and fertilizer for 50 years. Primary responsibilities include:
Providing soil science and/or agronomic support to customers by assisting the technical sales staff
Assisting the Laboratory Manager with relevant agronomic information
Analyzing data for QA/QC
Operating and installing of laboratory equipment
Performing analysis on soil, plant, and water samples
Testing of samples that require a higher technical skill
Supervising and training seasonal employees
Mixing of standards and reagents
Writing standard operating procedures
Assisting in the development of new methods
Other duties as assigned
Physical Demands
Ability to lift 50 pounds
Ability to stand for long periods at a time
Salary and Benefits:
Starting salary is $48,000 - $65,000 per year DOE
AGVISE employee stock ownership plan (ESOP).
Profit sharing in addition to base salary

Safety equipment and laptop computer provided
Schedule:
8-hour day shift
Monday to Friday
Weekends as needed during the year.
Saturdays required during the fall soil testing season
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Soil Science, or a relevant agricultural degree
Certified Crop Advisor or the ability to obtain certification within 2 years of hire
Ability to work in a professional manner
Provide a high amount of scientific integrity
Work well in a team setting with other scientists and technicians
Demonstrated ability to work independently and handle multiple projects simultaneously
Evidence of good communication and collaboration skills. Evidence of being observant and detail-oriented, and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Evidence of using a computer and must have knowledge of Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for processing and data entry/analysis
Experience working with laboratory equipment would be highly beneficial
Ability to work extended hours during busy seasons
