Your Role
We are currently searching for a Senior Design Manager with a successful track record of managing all phases of complex developments. In our versatile studio, your opportunities may include ambitious towers or boutique repositioning's of historic buildings. As a Senior Design Manager at Gensler, you will oversee quality and guide teams to meet and exceed our clients’ visions, while assuring financial performance.
What You Will Do
- Manage project teams and drive project delivery during all phases of the project
- Collaborate with the Project Design Director and Project Technical Director to meet project objectives
- Develop and maintain project schedules, labor budgets, and work plans
- Lead relationships with clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, and engineering and specialty consultants
- Prepare and review proposals, contracts, and consultant agreements
- Review internal project accounting documents and process draft project billing documents
- Participate in project marketing, proposal writing, and project interviews
- Manage mid-size to large project teams including assigning and monitoring completion of tasks
- Mentor junior staff
- Oversee the coordination and document preparation for the project and provide quality assurance via review of project documentation
- Participate in the Gensler Design Management community through committees, seminars, and initiatives development
Requirements
Your Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture and 10 + years of relevant experience as a project manager on a range of commercial core and shell projects, or projects of comparable complexity
- Experience with the entire project lifecycle, from conceptual design through post-occupancy
- Experience managing and mentoring multiple project teams, including the ability to create and communicate clear project objectives and requirements that lead project teams to successful conclusions
- Experience in developing business through preparing project proposals and coordinating with marketing teams
- Experience in negotiating contracts and fees
- Knowledge of building codes, technical standards and the construction process
- Proven fiscal accountability and responsibility
- Strong leadership, organization, communication and relationship management skills
- Participation and presence in industry organizations and professional affiliations
