EDUCATIONAL SITE LEAD FOR WEST COUNTY HEALTH CENTER
Description
EDUCATIONAL SITE LEAD
FOR WEST COUNTY HEALTH CENTER
Contra Costa Family Medicine Residency
The Educational Site Lead Faculty works with the Core Faculty Ambulatory Education Lead to oversee resident education and experience in the continuity clinic. The three Educational Site Lead faculty (MHC, PHC, WCHC) work closely with one another and the Core Faculty Director for Ambulatory Education (Michel Sam) to develop and implement the vision for resident education in the continuity clinic. Each individual site lead functions as a liaison between the residents, preceptors, residency leadership, ambulatory care physician leadership and the clinic site, including the Clinic Services Manager, site staff, care coordinators and health home personnel for residents and faculty at the site.
The Educational Site Leads work directly with the Program Director, core faculty, Behavioral Scientist and Lead Residents as members of the Residency Leadership Group (RLG). The residency values strong faculty resident mentorship and cultivates a work environment that prioritizes diversity, equity and inclusion. Duties consist of attending regular Ed Site Meetings; clinical and didactic teaching; serving as an advisor to assigned residents; and other responsibilities as delegated by the Program Director and Director for Ambulatory Education.
Site Leads will be based in ambulatory family medicine clinic and care for their own panel of family medicine patients without residents. Ed Site leads receive 12 hours per week of residency time for their work, one half day of which may be used for fill-in precepting at the discretion of the Director of Ambulatory Education and PD. The balance of weekly hours will be divided between teaching/supervision of residents and residency administrative tasks. Specific designation of hours will be made in conjunction with the Program Director to meet program needs and regulatory standards.
Educational Site Lead positions include an appointment as UCSF Volunteer Clinical Faculty after one year of demonstrated success in the position. Faculty will be expected to uphold high teaching standards as well as their administrative duties in order to maintain their VCF standing.
