Description

Crawford, Murphy & Tilly, Inc. (CMT) is a full-service consulting firm focused on four primary markets:  Aviation, Surface Transportation, Water Resources, and Building & Site Services. CMT provides planning, environmental, design, and construction observation phase services on projects that range from simple to complex. CMT seeks to fill a full-time position and provide an opportunity to join our central IL area market, Springfield, IL office, as a project engineer. The selected candidate will have demonstrated leadership qualities, the ability to work as a team member or independently, and the desire to learn new skills and areas of expertise. 

General Assignments:

  • Planning, design, and construction of aviation-related civil & transportation projects
  • Perform and lead design tasks or projects including the supervising and directing of junior staff in support of the project managers and the group manager
  • Typical projects require preparation of bidding documents (plans & specifications) including horizontal and vertical layout, site development, grading, drainage, pavement design, marking, signage, erosion control, coordination with other disciplines, water & sanitary utilities, quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, and construction scheduling
  • Perform, assist or oversee construction-related tasks including on-site construction observation and project engineering


Minimum qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • Minimum 6 years of civil engineering experience with demonstrated technical design & construction expertise in transportation, civil site development, and civil infrastructure projects including geometric design, grading, drainage, pavements, utilities, quantities, engineering reports, and specifications
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in Illinois or the ability to gain licensure in Illinois
  • Demonstrated skills and a working knowledge of AutoCAD for use in civil & site design projects
  • Skill using Civil 3D for site modeling, design, and analysis is preferred
  • Experience in aviation-related design is not required
  • Interest in experiencing a variety of assignments is important
  • Must be willing to accept periodic out of town travel assignments and work overtime to meet project demands
  • Acceptable driving record and valid driver’s license
