The Office of Naval Research is seeking exceptional candidates for the position of Program Officer in the Department of Aviation, Force Projection and Integrated Defense (ONR Code 35). This Department supports the Navy’s air warfare and weapons needs, fostering the Science and Technology of naval aviation platforms, kinetic weapons, directed[1]and counter-directed energy weapons. The successful candidate will initiate, manage, and coordinate applied research and advanced technology development programs in these areas. This person must possess a detailed and advanced knowledge of the theory, analysis, and program management in one or more of the following areas: air-vehicles, missiles, guns, high-powered lasers, and/or high-powered microwaves. Some knowledge of Applied Autonomy in air platforms and/or weapon systems is highly desirable. The ability to foster communications and collaboration between diverse groups of government and contractor scientists and engineers, weapons integrators and the warfighter is required. An advanced degree, particularly an earned doctorate in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering, Physics or related area is highly preferred, along with a background in research and development and program management experience at the GS-14 level or higher, or industry/academic equivalent. Must have or be eligible for a Top Secret security clearance.
