Description

The City of Springfield’s Department of Environmental Services is seeking applicants for multiple Engineer positions (option to fill as an Engineer I, Engineer II, Engineer III, or Professional Engineer).  The positions will be in our Water Quality Management and Protection Division and may focus on the following areas:
  • Manage infrastructure planning and capital improvement projects with design consultants;
  • Design of wastewater infrastructure improvements;
  • Review of sanitary sewer engineering plans for community development projects;
  • Work with a team of GIS and data analysis professionals in collection system assessment, performance, and asset management; 
  • Perform capital planning and rehabilitation improvement analysis;
  • Update and utilize the sanitary sewer hydraulic model;
The ideal candidates will seek innovative solutions and have a technical or educational background in water resources, environmental, sanitary sewer, stormwater, or wastewater engineering.   Experience in project management, hydraulic modeling, and/or GIS and data analysis is preferred. These positions are part of a career progression ladder with opportunities for advancement as required proficiency is demonstrated. About the Department of Environmental Services

Requirements

Qualifications and Requirements

Experience, Education, and Training

Professional Engineer
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in an Engineering discipline;
AND
  • Four years of experience in engineering work. 
  • Engineering experience must be commensurate with assigned specialty area required for current vacancy.
Engineer III (Underfill option): 
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in an Engineering discipline; 
AND
  • Three years progressively responsible engineering experience;
  • Must possess an Engineering Intern (EI) certificate from a State Board of registration for Professional Engineers within probationary period;
  • Master's Degree in Engineering may be substituted for the EI certification.
 Licensing/Certification
  • Must possess a Professional Engineer's license;
  • Must possess MO license as issued by the Missouri State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers within six months of employment.

Engineer II
Experience, Education, and Training

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related area;
AND
  • Two years of progressively responsible experience;
  • A Master's Degree in Engineering may be substituted for one year of the required work experience;
  • Work experience must be commensurate with assigned specialty area for required vacancy.

Licensing/Certification

  • Must possess a valid Driver's License;
  • Engineering Intern (EI) certification is required. 


Engineer I
Must possess a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in an Engineering discipline providing appropriate engineering education related to the specialty area with current vacancy.

Licensing/Certification

  • If operating a motor vehicle for the purpose of completing job duties, must possess a valid Driver's License;
  • Must possess Engineering Intern (EI) certification or acquire within probationary period.

$65,145.60 - $101,358.40 Annually

Engineer III:

$60,673.60 - $94,390.40 Annually

$54,204.80 - $84,364.80 Annually
