POSITION SUMMARY
The Business Development Officer is responsible for cultivating partnerships with corporations and government entities in the US and Canada that assist AISES in accomplishing it mission to advance opportunities for Indigenous people in STEM studies and careers. The officer will work with partners to encourage participation and investment in AISES events, to develop innovative STEM focused programming, and to secure resources that provide students and professionals access to critical educational and career development opportunities. The Business Development Officer will also lead the departments coordination of the Native Links Golf Tournament, an annual fundraising event.

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•    Conduct outreach and cultivate new partnerships with corporations and government entities in the US and Canada
•    Lead partner relationships with designated corporate and government entities by providing ongoing organizational and event updates and to encourage participation and investment in AISES events and programs.
•    Develop and present grant, fee-for-service, and sponsorship proposals to interested partners.
•    Assist in all sales efforts related to AISES National Conference (specifically the College and Career Fair), Winds of Change Advertising, Career Hub, and other events.
•    Utilize AISES systems to track AISES partnerships, investments, reporting, and other relevant information. 
•    Be involved in coordination of activities for all AISES events including the National Conference, Canada National Gathering, and Regional Conferences
•    Organizing annual Native Links Golf Tournament including coordination and contracting with golf course, managing event production schedule, leading outreach, engagement with event Host Committee, and on-site event activities.
•    Participate and support other business development staff in facilitating engagement with the AISES Government Relations Council and Corporate Advisory Council
•    Research and propose new and innovative business development initiatives to support the AISES mission.
•    Participate in development and implementation of the annual organizational budget.
•    Other duties as assigned by the VP of Business Development and other senior leadership.



Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS - PROFESSIONAL & EDUCATIONAL
•    Minimum of a bachelor’s degree with preference for a master’s degree in an applicable discipline such as Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, Public Administration, Non-Profit Management, or other.
•    Relevant experience must include at least 5 years of successful experience in a role focused on fund development for non-profit organizations, marketing, sales, or similar.
•    Operation of computer and computer programs with high proficiency with Microsoft products, specifically MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook. Experience with other web-based applications and databases preferred. 

QUALIFICATIONS - SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES
•    An understanding and sensitivity to Indigenous history and culture and an awareness of the role and importance of Indigenous STEM education.
•    Experience with fundraising including, grant writing and development, fee-for-service, sponsorship proposals, and event fund raising.
•    Ability to positively interact with partners and donors in order to nurture relationships, provide requested services, and/or resolve problems or issues.
•    Ability to present AISES programs, services and organization to internal and external audiences.
•    Capable of innovative thinking and problem solving.
•    Must have excellent verbal and written communication and customer service skills for internal and external interactions.
•    Must possess strong initiative and be results-oriented.
•    Must be partner-focused and possess strong customer service skills.
•    Dependable and able to prioritize and meet project schedules and deadlines.
•    Must be willing and eager to work in a highly collaborative team environment.
•    Must be enthusiastic, tactful, mature, flexible as well as creative.
•    Must be detail orientated, resourceful, and well organized.
•    Ability to travel up to 10 times a year
