Location: TBD

Travel: 30%

Marine Spill Response Corporation is a non-for-profit, U.S. Coast Guard Classified Oil Spill Removal Organization. MSRC was formed in 1990 to offer oil spill response services and mitigate damage to the environment. MSRC offers a full range of oil spill response capabilities intended to help meet the planning criteria of the Oil Pollution Act of 1990.

MSRC is offering an excellent career opportunity for a Marine Operations Manager with the leader in the oil spill response industry. The Marine Operations Manager would work under the direction of the VP of Marine Operations, and be responsible for recruiting and retention of marine personnel, operational oversight and quality assurance of the vessels in their respective region. The Manager is responsible for all aspects of ensuring that the vessels are fully crewed at all times with qualified mariners. This position requires extensive interaction with other regional personnel, Marine Operations Managers as well as other vessels in the region.  The Manager will have oversight of the QA and QC programs for their vessels, as well as participate in regular staff calls and regional management meetings.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marine Transportation/Marine Engineering/Management or other directly related fields or equivalent experience (preferred)
  • Demonstrate a proven record of previous positions in management within the maritime industry
  • TWIC Card (required)
  • Ability to operate a personal computer
  • Employment
    • Completion of a successful background check,
    • Pre-hire medical exam and drug screen;
    • Ability to obtain a valid driver license and U.S. Passport

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for management of the marine crews on the vessels in the designated region; vetting, license requirements and training/drills
  • Maintain the vessels in a fully crewed state at all times
  • Coordinate vacation reliefs, filling open positions and other vacancies with Human Resources Administrator
  • Liaise with applicable response supervisors on operational issues
  • Review and approve all underway operations plans, as applicable
  • Ensure minimum underway and night training operations are completed; regional and marine operations requirements
  • Perform quarterly QA drills and provide reports
  • Perform quarterly QC inspections and provide reports
  • Review vessel operations, maintenance and training records to ensure compliance with applicable regulations
  • Conduct semi-annual evaluation of crew performance during underway operations
  • Participate in regional supervisors’ meetings, weekly conference calls and other inter-company discussions as required
  • Oversee training of new Masters and Chief Engineers
  • Administer regional budget for crew costs and administrative items as applicable
  • Administer disciplinary action as appropriate
