Company History

The company was incorporated on May 8, 1991, as Utility Supply of America, Inc.

It was founded by a certified water and wastewater utility operator who recognized a gap in the market: there was no single-source supplier that truly understood the technical MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) needs of municipalities and professional operators.

Shortly after founding, the company released its first catalog—a 250-page "BlueBook" featuring over 6,000 items. This established the "BlueBook" identity that would eventually become the company's primary name.

In 2005, USABlueBook became part of the HD Supply family. This move provided the company with a more robust distribution network and additional resources to scale its operations.

By 2016, the company celebrated its 25th anniversary. Its "Master Catalog" had grown from its original 250 pages to a massive 1,800-page resource offering over 64,000 products.

In December 2020, The Home Depot completed its reacquisition of HD Supply Holdings, Inc. (which includes USABlueBook). This integrated USABlueBook into Home Depot’s broader strategy to serve professional MRO customers.

Today, USABlueBook operates out of Waukegan, Illinois, and serves over 50,000 customers including municipalities, private industries, and food and beverage processing facilities.
