Position Summary
The Assistant Dean for Education serves as the Ivester School of Nursing's academic leader for educational programs and clinical track faculty, reporting directly to the Dean. This position provides strategic and operational leadership for the development, implementation, systematic evaluation, and continuous quality improvement of all degree programs. The Assistant Dean for Education is a key partner to the Dean in advancing the school's educational mission and its commitment to developing a highly prepared nursing workforce for Georgia and beyond.
Additional Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Current or eligibility for registered nurse licensure in the state of Georgia.
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in nursing education, including demonstrated leadership in curriculum development, program evaluation, and faculty management.
- Demonstrated evidence of nursing accreditation processes ( CCNE or ACEN ) and familiarity with Georgia Board of Nursing regulatory requirements.
- Track record of successful faculty and instructor recruitment, mentorship, and evaluation.

Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrated leadership in preparing for and successfully completing a CCNE or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing ( ACEN ) accreditation self-study or site visit.
- Bachelor of Science ( BSN ) program development leadership in an R1 or research-intensive university environment.
- Familiarity with NCLEX -RN Next Generation ( NGN ) examination design and corresponding pedagogical strategies.
- Active participation in national nursing education organizations ( AACN , NLN , STTI , or equivalent).
- Track record of working in a school or program within a large, public research university system.

Curriculum and Academic Program Leadership
- Provides leadership for the design, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of all degree programs, working collaboratively with the Curriculum Committee to ensure academic quality, coherence, and currency.
- Ensures alignment of all curricula with Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education ( CCNE ) accreditation standards, Georgia Board of Nursing ( GBN ) requirements, NCLEX -RN preparation, and relevant specialty certification examination requirements.
- Leads the selection of educational materials and classroom support resources, including textbooks, library resources (in collaboration with the Assistant Dean for Research), clinical decision-support software, and NCLEX readiness platforms.
- Provides direct oversight to degree program coordinators and collaborates with course coordinators, clinical site coordinators, and other academic partners to ensure quality and practice-readiness across all programs.

Accreditation, Regulatory Compliance, and External Representation
- Serves as the School's lead for ( CCNE ) accreditation, including self-study preparation, continuous improvement documentation, and site visit coordination.
- Leads all matters pertaining to ongoing compliance and approval with the Georgia Board of Nursing, including program approval, substantive change notifications, and required reporting.
- Maintains current knowledge of accreditation standards, state regulatory requirements, and national trends in nursing education; proactively anticipates and responds to changes that affect program approval and accreditation status.
- Represents the Ivester School of Nursing at state and national meetings of nursing education leaders, including ACEN , CCNE , AACN , and relevant GBN forums, and ensures the school is well-positioned within the broader nursing education landscape.
- Relates to external agencies on matters pertaining to educational program performance and outcomes.

Clinical Track Faculty and Instructors Leadership
- Supervises, mentors, and evaluates clinical track faculty, fostering a culture of teaching excellence, scholarly engagement, and professional development.
- Forecasts instructional needs across all course offerings and leads the recruitment, hiring, and evaluation of clinical track faculty.
- Oversees recruitment, onboarding, assignment, and evaluation of clinical instructors to support high-quality clinical education.
- Collaborates with the Senior Associate Dean for Administration and Operations to ensure appropriate faculty and clinical instructor staffing aligned with programmatic and instructional needs.
- Guides clinical track faculty and instructors in developing and sustaining evidence-based teaching practices across didactic, laboratory, simulation, and clinical learning environments, promoting consistency in teaching, student evaluation, and the application of academic policies.
