The National Fisheries Institute (NFI), the leading trade association for the U.S. seafood industry, is seeking a Manager, Government Relations to support its federal advocacy efforts. This role offers early-career professionals the opportunity to work at the intersection of public policy, international trade, food systems, and sustainability, with direct exposure to senior leadership and engagement on legislative and regulatory priorities impacting a global industry.
Successful Candidate will have the following qualities:
- Demonstrates interest in positioning seafood as a benefit to U.S. consumers and global food systems through credible, science-based advocacy
- Thoughtful in analyzing policy trends and their implications for industry stakeholders
- Effective and confident writer, able to communicate across technical and non-technical audiences
- Collaborative and responsive, with the ability to operate in a fast-paced policy environment
- Proactive and solutions-oriented, with sound judgment and attention to both immediate priorities and long-term opportunities
- Comfortable building consensus and working across diverse stakeholder groups
Responsibilities
- Support Executive Vice President & General Counsel
- Track and analyze federal legislation and regulatory activity related to seafood, trade, and food policy
- Prepare policy briefs, comment letters, talking points, and other advocacy materials
- Support execution of NFI’s government relations strategy in coordination with the Executive Vice President & General Counsel
- Engage with member companies to support advocacy priorities and issue alignment
- Assist in the administration and strategic growth of NFI’s political action committee (FishPAC
- Collaborate across internal teams to advance policy initiatives

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in political science, public policy, government, economics, or related field;
- 2-3 years of experience on Capitol Hill, at a federal agency, or in a government relations or trade association role
- Proven research, writing and analytical skills.
- Strong understanding of the legislative and regulatory process
- Ability to synthesize complex policy issues into clear, actionable insights
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities
