Job Summary
Hodgson Russ LLP, a dynamic and leading AmLaw 200 firm known for its excellence and innovation in legal services, is seeking an attorney to join its Intellectual Property practice group in the Firm’s Buffalo, Rochester, Albany, or Saratoga Springs offices.
Qualifications
- Familiarity with patent preparation and prosecution of software, electronic, electromechanical, and/or image processing inventions.
- Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Draft and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications relating to electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, computer engineering, or another related engineering discipline.
- Prepare responses to USPTO Office Actions and manage examiner interviews.
- Conduct patentability, freedom-to-operate, and validity analysis.
- Perform research and stay current on patent law developments and emerging technologies in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, or computer engineering.
- Communicate effectively with inventors, in-house counsel, and foreign associates.
- Participate in client meetings and contribute to business development efforts, as appropriate.
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree (or higher) in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, computer engineering, or another related engineering discipline.
- Registration to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Strong academic credentials.
- Excellent technical, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other practice areas to provide comprehensive solutions to clients.
Salary
- A competitive compensation and comprehensive benefit package, including medical, dental, vision, life, long term disability, flexible spending, 401(k), Paid Time Off, pension plan, and more. At this time, the good faith estimate of the annual salary range for this position, if the successful applicant is based in Buffalo, Rochester, Albany, or Saratoga Springs, is $125,000 to $147,000. This range is not applicable to other locations.
