Project Development Manager

Job Description:

We are seeking a Project Development Manager to join our Metlen team in Berlin. This role will support the Head of Project Development (DE) in scaling our new renewable energy pipeline (mostly stand-alone BESS, with solar PV, co-located assets and datacentres in the mix) from assessing early-stage to RTB project rights through to commissioning.

The Project Development Manager will play a key role in assessing new project opportunities, understanding the market environment, forming relationship with key stakeholders, executing project development plans, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Your role will encompass:

• Support the Head of Project Development (DE) in implementing strategic plans for renewable energy project development

• Assist in building, coordinating and mentoring the Project Development team in Berlin

• Identify and evaluate new project opportunities in the renewable energy sector

• Monitor and report regulatory and market updates

• Participate in due diligence processes for buy-side transactions, as required

• Monitor and report on the status of ongoing renewable energy projects to ensure timely delivery (likely in collaboration with local partners)

• Support sell-side transaction activities, as required

• Coordinate with EPC, Legal, Energy Origination and further required departments to execute project development tasks

• Maintain good relationships with key stakeholders (landowners, authorities, consultants, development partners)

• Review planning documentation for new projects and liaise with planning consultants to ensure compliance and discharge conditions

• Support the grid team with planning and land-related issues for grid connection assets

• Prepare regular project updates and reports for internal stakeholders

What you bring to the role:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Finance, Legal Studies, Business Management, or related fields

• 4-6 years of experience in renewable energy project development (focus on stand-alone BESS assets)

• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills

• Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively

• Entrepreneurial spirit, required to establish Metlen as a new player in the German renewable energy market

• Excellent communication skills in German and English

• Familiar with geospatial and design tools including QGIS and AutoDesk applications (e.g., AutoCAD)

• Willingness to travel as needed for project development and stakeholder meetings
