Description
Job SummaryThe Project Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and supervising all Ship Building activities within the shipyard facility. The role ensures optimal performance, reliability, and safety of shipyard machinery, marine equipment, dry docks, cranes, and supporting infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in shipbuilding or shipyard operations and a strong background in preventive and corrective maintenance programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs for shipyard equipment and infrastructure.
- Oversee maintenance operations for marine machinery, dock systems, cranes, welding equipment, and heavy shipyard machinery.
- Lead, train, and supervise the maintenance team including mechanical, electrical, and marine technicians.
- Ensure minimal downtime of shipyard operations through effective maintenance planning and rapid troubleshooting.
- Manage maintenance schedules for dry docks, slipways, lifting systems, and ship repair facilities.
- Monitor equipment performance and recommend upgrades or replacements when necessary.
- Ensure compliance with marine safety standards, environmental regulations, and company policies.
- Prepare maintenance budgets, control costs, and manage spare parts inventory.
- Coordinate with shipbuilding project managers, operations teams, and external contractors.
- Implement maintenance management systems and maintain accurate maintenance records.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure equipment reliability and safety.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or Civil Engineering.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in maintenance, preferably within shipbuilding, shipyards, or marine industries.
- Proven experience managing large maintenance teams in heavy industrial environments.
- Strong knowledge of marine mechanical systems, hydraulics, electrical systems, cranes, and shipyard infrastructure.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Good command of English (written and spoken).
