The City of Lake Worth Beach, Florida (pop. 40,000), is seeking a highly qualified and experienced water resources professional to serve as Assistant Director of Water Utilities. This position offers an opportunity to join the senior leadership team of a vibrant coastal city and play a key role in the planning, management, and delivery of essential public utility services.

The Assistant Director of Water Utilities serves as a seniorlevel engineering and management professional, reporting directly to the Director of Water Utilities. The position assists in the administration, planning, design, construction, and operation of the City’s water, sewer, and stormwater systems. They provide advanced technical expertise, oversees complex capital improvement projects, supports budget development, and ensures compliance with federal, state, and regional regulations. This position exercises substantial independent judgment and serves as acting authority for the Department in the Director’s absence.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited educational institution in Water Resources, Business Administration, Civil Engineering, or in a related field, with emphasis in Public Administration.
- Ten years' progressively responsible experience in the management of a public or private sector public water or wastewater utility; and experience in issues affecting government with at least five (5) years in a supervisory role is required. An equivalent combination of education and/or job-related experience that meets the minimum qualifications may be substituted.
- Master’s degree may substitute for required experience.
Active Florida Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is highly preferred.
